Lady Gaga will have her own real estate in FarmVille: GagaVille will promote her forthcoming album “Born This Way” and let players hear her songs ahead of the May 23 release date.
GagaVille is actually a branded farm within FarmVille that start offering previously unreleased tracks at a rate of one per day starting May 17 — for players who figure out how to unlock and stream the tunes. By May 20, players will be able to unlock and stream a significant portion of the songs from the new album, along with bonus remixes.
To coincide with all this, $25 Zynga game cards will go on sale exclusively at Best Buy throughout the U.S. and Canada. This piece of offline plastic includes:
- Free download of Lady Gaga’s new “Born This Way” album plus exclusive bonus tracks (redeemable on 5/23)
- Exclusive Lady Gaga unicorn for FarmVille players
- Chance for seven lucky winners to win a day on the set of a Lady Gaga music video shoot (apparently the first time she’s ever opened up such an opportunity to fans).)
The Zynga marketing tie-ins also include an opportunity to win concert tickets and a signed copy of the album “Burn This Way” within FarmVille. Plus, Zynga’s incorporated its incentive platform RewardVille so players can redeem zCoins for Lady Gaga-branded virutal goods in ten different games, including: CityVille, FrontierVille, FarmVille, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker, Café World, Treasure Isle, YoVille, PetVille, and Vampire Wars.
Even before the announcement of this rather elaborate promotion with Zynga, Lady Gaga has struck us as having one of the savviest social media strategies of any musical artist — GagaVille simply pushes all of this to new heights.
Readers, what do you think about Zynga and Lady Gaga’s strategy?
