Facebook’s latest acquisition may be aimed at tweaking its messaging system and creating virtual worlds.
Email-prioritization system MailRank announced on its blog that Facebook acquired the company and will welcome MailRank Co-Founders Bethanye McKinney Blount and Bryan O’Sullivan to the social network’s engineering team.
As a result, the private beta of MailRank for Outlook has been discontinued.
Sister blog Inside Facebook pointed out that Blount and O’Sullivan are both former directors of engineering at Linden Lab, which created online virtual world Second Life.
