Facebook Increases Emphasis On Page Notifications

Facebook really wants to make sure page administrators don’t miss a single thing that their fans are doing: The site engage has added yet another visual reminder to notifications, just a few weeks after the last enhancement to visibility.

Today we see the addition of a new drop-down arrow to the right of the word “Notifications” on the page when viewed in administrator mode. Clicking on it produces a drop-down menu showing the most recent activities. (Note: The screenshot to the right was Photoshopped to fit our layout size requirements.)

A Facebook spokesperson has confirmed via email that this change is indeed a new feature.

This addition differs from the previous enhancement to notifications for page administrators in that you can’t see the arrow until after you’ve selected to navigate Facebook as in admin mode.

Readers, does drawing more attention to notifications make you feel more inclined to interact with fans of your page?

Many thanks to Michael Hochman for the tip.
