The leading vendor of file compression software, Corel, has come out with a Facebook version of WinZip, called ZipShare.
After downloading and installing ZipShare, the application automatically bundles files that users designate for sharing into .ZIP files.
Users choose where on Facebook the files will be available, and links to the .ZIP files are then posted on the social network.
Up to 100 megabytes of storage are available for files, and users can clear out files that are no longer needed to conserve space. The interface is simple and easy to use, and the uploading speed is quick.
Keeping in mind that ZipShare is in beta, here are two features we would like to see at some point down the road:
- The ability to encrypt WinZip files, so that the content within is only accessible to users it was meant for; and
- The ability to send ZipShare links to specific users. The beta version only allows users to post to their walls or to groups on the social network.
Readers, how do you share content on Facebook?
