BUZZMEDIA was feeling a little frisky Friday morning, announcing its acquisition of The Frisky, a site focusing on entertainment news, celebrity, fashion, and women’s lifestyle, from Turner Broadcasting System.
The cable programmer launched The Frisky in 2008, and it drew an average of more than 2 million readers per month in 2010, according to comScore. Turner said it is shifting its focus to digital properties that tie more closely to its news, entertainment, and sports properties.
BUZZMEDIA CEO Tyler Goldman said:
The Web audience is concentrated around a limited number of trusted branded media experiences. We are excited to add The Frisky to the growing portfolio of leading media brands we publish in the entertainment category, and to continue growing our audience and sales, which have been expanding by more than 100 percent in each of the past three years.
Chief revenue officer Doug Rohrer added:
As with other BUZZMEDIA brands, The Frisky has a trusted voice that millions have invited into their daily lives. Its users chase the intelligence, maturity, and humor of its content, and this connection serves as the foundation for the high engagement and influence that are the core of BUZZMEDIA’s work.
