The people have spoken: Breathometer, the smartphone breathalyzer designed to stop drunk driving, is almost here. With 19 days left to go, developer Charles Michael Yim has more than tripled his funding goal of $25,000 on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
The product is expected to ship this summer, but Yim is not done raising money — he has a few new features in mind.
- If he can raise $100,000, he’ll add one-click calling to friends and local taxi companies.
- For, $150,000, funders can help select four more Breathometer device colors.
- For $200,000, he’ll add functionality that will help stop drunk texting when the caller is over the legal limit.
“You asked, we’ve listened!” Yim wrote. “You wanted more call options, additional device colors and no drunk texting, so here you go: we are rolling out an exciting Breathometer roadmap, matching stretch goals and great new perks. We’ve got 19 days, so let’s make this happen!”
The campaign is still happening on Breathometer’s Indiegogo page. Funders who pledge $20 or more will get a Breathometer of their very own.
