Take a bow, BandPage: This leading Facebook page application among musicians has doubled its user base over the past six months, to 500,000 acts worldwide.
The app also used the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, to celebrate its second birthday and announce new features, a tie-in with Billboard magazine, and the collection of more than $2 million in unpaid royalties for more than 9,000 of its artists.
Music-industry stalwart Billboard will begin running charts from BandPage highlighting trends and new artists. As for the app’s new features:
- Artists will now be informed when Facebook users like new content, such as songs, videos, images, or shows.
- A wider design is now available.
- Fans can now alert their Facebook friends about artists by clicking one button.
And BandPage teamed up with SoundExchange to secure more than $2 million in uncollected digital performance royalties for more than 9,000 artists that use the app.
BandPage developer RootMusic closed a $16 million series-B funding round in August.
