Aeria Games Preps Free-to-Play F.E.A.R. Online for Steam

FEAR LogoGlobal publisher of free-to-play games, Aeria Games, has announced the upcoming launch of F.E.A.R. Online, a free-to-play take on the famous horror series, which will offer cooperative story missions that run parallel to the events of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.

F.E.A.R. Online will include multiple game modes, including multiplayer, and follows a story surrounding the frightening scientific experiments of the Armacham Technology Corporation. Long story short, things went south for Armacham, and this resulted in the town of Fairport being overrun by creatures, apparitions, and a terrifying young girl named Alma Wade.

In this first-person shooter, players can engage in up-to four-player cooperative story missions, as well as multiplayer battles on over ten maps. These multiplayer matches will offer combat against both rival players and deadly monsters. To be specific, the classic team deathmatch mode has received a twist, as users can transform into beasts after they’ve engaged in enough combat to fill their transformation gauge.

After testing the game in closed beta, Aeria has made hefty changes to the experience, including adding new maps, a new story scenario, and a redesigned crafting system that will allow players to make one-of-a-kind weapons for their arsenal.

“We are excited to introduce F.E.A.R. Online to millions of PC gamers with the launch on the Steam platform,” said Dr. Pascal Zuta, CEO of Aeria Games, in a statement. “Taking player feedback to heart, our team has redesigned elements of the game that are most important to players to deliver an experience that we hope will please the vast and dedicated fan base of the F.E.A.R. series.”

F.E.A.R. Online will launch as a free download on Steam later this year.
