FbStart Apps of the Year Submissions Are Due by May 1

Developers are vying for $160,000 in prizes

Facebook is accepting submissions for its third annual FbStart Apps of the Year awards competition, and it will do so through May 1 at midnight PT.

FbStart Apps of the Year is aimed at recognizing the most innovative startups in the social network’s FbStart initiative in terms of building native iOS or Android mobile applications.

A total of $160,000 in prize money will be awarded as follows:

  • Global App of the Year: $100,000 prize ($50,000 in cash and $50,000 in Facebook advertising credit), including mentorship from Facebook’s team to help the startup accelerate its growth.
  • Regional App of the Year (three winners): $15,000 per winner ($7,500 in cash and $7,500 in Facebook advertising credit).
  • Social Good App of the Year: $15,000 ($7,500 in cash and $7,500 in Facebook advertising credit).

Facebook launched its FbStart initiative to help support startup app developers at its F8 developers conference in May 2014.

Developers that are not already FbStart members must apply by April 15 in order to be eligible for this year’s FbStart Apps of the Year awards competition.
