YouTube: a great crime-fighting tool?

Heist
As reported in Tuesday’s New York Post, a thief was caught on surveillance cameras earlier this year stealing furniture from the lobby of a New York apartment building. In fact, he was caught looking directly into the camera on the way out with one of the chairs he made off with. One resident took the tape and posted it on YouTube with a couple of nice production touches, including the musical theme to The Pink Panther, and several silent-movie type screen cards commenting on the action. “This is going to look great in my place,” reads one card. “I wonder what that camera looking thing is” reads another. No word on whether the thief has been caught yet, but it’s probably just a matter of time. Inspector Clouseau would approve.
