Eyebrows have been raised over XXL editor in chief Elliott Wilson’s decision to appear in this Rocawear ad on the back cover of his magazine’s 10th anniversary issue. Wilson explains in Folio: “I’m not wearing Rocawear clothes in it, and I wasn’t compensated for it.” See, now this is what’s wrong with the publishing business today. If he would have gotten paid, he could have boosted XXL’s bottom line. And what is he wearing exactly? It doesn’t look like Dockers. In the post-Murdoch/Dow Jones era, with media revenue and journalistic integrity both falling a bit, I just thought I’d mention … I can really pull off the smart-casual thing, and green is definitely my color.
