Somewhere out there I have a feeling my former co-worker, journalist Wylie Wong, would be excited about this too. Wylie had a quite impressive snow globe collection. In New York, a holiday promotion from Sears will feature a life-sized snow globe occupied by real people. The 25-foot globe is part of a sweeping marketing push that began Sunday with TV ads that feature giant versions of gift items available at Sears, according to this story. The theme of the campaign is "Wish Big." A machine blows in and exhausts snow from the globe, which houses a kitchen and living room equipped with Sears products. Three different families will live in the globe throughout the day and watch TV and bake cookies. This Sears stunt is just one of many this season, where companies such as Kodak and Citi host big displays to entice people in to holiday shopping. Citi is putting on an ice-skating park and Kodak opened Gallery One in New York and San Francisco, a photography exhibit that also showcases Kodak products.
