I can never get it straight who Rob Schneider is. I even saw him once, heading into MTV with Adam Sandler, back when Adweek had its offices in the Viacom building. Or maybe that was the kid from Silver Spoons. This may not help distinguish him, either. Schneider wants you to know he’s the guy who will never
again work with Mel Gibson (or probably not). He takes this courageous stance in an “open letter” that ran in Variety yesterday. (Click image for a readable version.) Of course, the ad is a joke, designed to promote Schneider’s own upcoming movie. But it’s also self-parody. In 2005, Schneider took out a less jokey ad in Variety, in which he ripped into a Los Angeles Times reporter for, of all things, not liking the sequel to Deuce Bigalow. Come to think of it, there’s something that sets Schneider apart. He’s the guy who liked the Deuce Bigalow movies.
