No one must be feeling more pressure than Volkswagen as we head toward Super Bowl XLVI, given the intergalactic success of "The Force," its record-breaking spot by Deutsch from last year's game (and Adweek's choice for the best commercial of 2011). So, what are they planning for an encore? It looks like they're taking no chances, continuing the Star Wars theme and adding another Super Bowl staple—dogs!—to the mix. Check out the teaser below, in which a canine chorus—including pooch versions of Chewbacca, an Ewok and . . . is that an AT-AT vehicle at the end?—bark out the "Imperial March." It's pretty much genius. How does the teaser relate to the spot being prepped for the game? The automaker is being coy. "Keep an eye out for our 2012 Game Day commercial—it will all make sense," the YouTube description says cryptically. In the meantime, head over to the VW website and invite your friends to your Super Bowl party with a customized Star Wars title crawl.
UPDATE: The teaser aired on ABC's The Middle on Wednesday night. VW tells us: "This video is not part of the actual 60-second spot that will be aired during the game. The Bark Side teaser was created to hint toward some of the exciting elements and characters that will be in the Super Bowl spot."
