This domestic-violence spot from London's Metropolitan Police is similar to a recent French effort in that we hear rather than see the abuse taking place. Here, as in that earlier spot, a neighbor tries to read despite a loud argument happening next door. If the stupid bookworm cranked up some tunes on an iPod, he wouldn't be bothered so much. Much like the Metropolitan Police's 2009 knife-crime campaign (which won the Grand Prix for Good at Cannes this summer), this spot is interactive—you can click to summon the cops. This adds sirens and flashing lights that would really make it tough to focus on a book. All kidding aside, though well intentioned, the spot can't beat the eerie silence at the end of the French PSA, which speaks volumes about the impact of actions not taken.
