As everyone in the civilized world must know by now, Palm Inc. has ended its rivalry with Microsoft by joining it in a joint venture. Palm is introducing a new Treo Smartphone in 2006 that will use Microsoft Windows as an operating system. What does this mean for the future of BlackBerrys? Will they be left out in the cold and become markers of a bygone era, like these poor Betamax machines, which admitted ignominious defeat in 1988?
