Turns out we're all desperate housewives

DesperateIs it life imitating camp? Or is it camp imitating life?

A new study from Leo Burnett's women's marketing division, LeoShe, finds that there are four prevailing ways women view their homes in relation to the world. Surprisingly (or perhaps not so), these four mindsets parallel the four main Desperate Housewives on ABC.

The "House Proud" woman, who considers the perfect home her pride and joy, is Bree Van de Camp (played by Marcia Cross). "Treading Water" (the woman whose home is another burden in a hectic life) fits former career-ladder-climber-turned-mom Lynette (Felicity Huffman). Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) is a "Keeping up with the Jones'" (though she doesn't do any of her own work to make her home a status symbol). Perhaps a better argument is Lynette, when on Ritalin.

And Susan (Teri Hatcher) — who does enough to get by, but not much more—is the more realistic "Keep it simple" woman.
