Why hasn’t DaimlerChrysler jumped to link its Chrysler 300 to the Spartans vs. Persians movie 300? Predictably, the film has brushed aside mixed reviews to become a huge box-office hit. And the muscle-bound movie probably appeals to much the same audience as the muscular car. (The toothy grille of the car even resembles the grimace of 300 star Gerard Butler in the movie’s ads.) We can only surmise that the automaker thought it a poor branding strategy to associate a well-appointed luxury sedan with the word “spartan.”
