Has James Frey’s apparently strained relationship with the truth hurt that beloved megabrand known as Oprah’s Book Club? It doesn’t seem so. Oprah selected her latest book, Elie Wiesel’s Night, on Monday, and it quickly shot to the top of the Amazon.com sales chart, replacing Frey’s A Million Little Pieces (which remains at No. 2). Advertisers aren’t blinking either. The image here comes from my weekly e-mail from Borders. But the e-mail did come with an unintentionally funny subject line: “The Shortlist: Oprah’s Haunting Pick, Coupons & More.”
