Despite seeing a citywide decrease in soda consumption, the New York City Health Department has decided to continue haranguing people about drinking too much of it. Specifically, they're launching an advisory campaign of posters warning passers-by, "You just drank 16 packets of sugar." Meanwhile, the amount of adults who indulged in soft drinks fell by 12% between 2007 and last year. Wouldn't it be better to use the new campaign to congratulate New Yorkers' resolve and encourage them to keep going? If health officials are so bent on morbidity, they could still include the health risks and commend people for avoiding them.
