Heads up, frustrated puppeteers. Fandango is offering a full year of movie tickets to the winner of its Fan-Made Bag Puppet Contest. Since 2003, ad agency Amoeba has been shaping crinkly cineasts out of flat paper bags, bits of yarn, macaroni—you know, the standard kindergarten craft closet menu—and being paid thousands for it. Now, it’s turning its job over to the masses in a contest not entirely unlike an ad review. Based on predetermined criteria—40 percent creativity, 40 percent materials used, 20 percent audience appeal—the judges will select 10 semifinalists before cutting to five finalists.
