Netflix has renewed Mo for Season 2, which will also be its last.

The series follows Palestinian refugee Mo Najjar as he attempts to gain asylum. The show premiered on Aug. 24, 2022, to critical acclaim.

“I’m thankful to continue to tell a universal story of struggle that relates to so many refugees and millions of under-represented humans trying to be seen around the globe and to be able to bring the people who loved and rooted for Mo Najjar along for the ride as we close this chapter of his story,” said co-creator, executive producer and star Mo Amer in a statement.

In Season 1, Mo, who is one step away from being granted asylum in the United States, navigates the boundaries of two cultures, three languages, “and a ton of bullshit.” His family flees to Houston, Texas, including his strong mother and wonderfully uninhibited brother. Mo adjusts to his new environment, but it’s difficult to advance when he’s bogged down in bureaucracy.

Amer will reprise his role as Mo. Teresa Ruiz (Maria), Farah Bseiso (Yusra) and Omar Elba (Sameer) will also reprise their roles.
