5 Funny Or Die Web Series Everyone Should Watch

Check out five of most hilarious Funny Or Die web series after the jump and put a little laughter in your day.

I feel like my coverage of the web video space has been pretty YouTube-centric thus far, so in 2011 I’ll be making it my business to give other online video sites more kudos and attention. I want to start with Funny Or Die, the comedy video website that frequently features celebrities like Will Ferrell (one of the site’s creators), Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bieber, James Franco, Jack Black, Ben Stiller and more. If you aren’t familiar with Funny Or Die, I’ve put together a list of what I think are five of the funniest web series on the site to give you a taste of what Funny Or Die is all about.

Before I get to the series, here’s little bit of background about Funny Or Die. The site was created by the guys at Gary Sanchez Productions, including Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. If you ask me, it’s no surprise that the site is full to the brim with sidesplitting material as everything that Will Ferrell is involved in is ridiculously hilarious. The site, which features funny videos from regular users and up-and-coming comedians has become most popular for it’s celebrity videos and series. One of the first videos that really blew up on the site, with over 74 million views so far, is ‘The Landlord’, in which Will Ferrell receives a visit from his itty bitty landlord Pearl.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, here are five funny series to wet your Funny Or Die whistle! Some of them are oldies, but goodies, and if you haven’t seen them yet you’ll be happy you’re seeing them now! Feel free to share your favorite Funny Or Die video or series with us in the comments.

Van Der Week

The first week of 2011 at Funny Or Die was slated as ‘Van Der Week’, starring Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek. The Van Der Week series consisted of three back-to-back videos, starring James VDB. Check out the ‘Behind The Scenes’ video below, and click to watch the other three videos – Vandermemes, Asshole For Hire and DILF Khakis.

Between Two Ferns

My personal favorite Funny Or Die series would have to be ‘Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis’, in which actor Zach Galifianakis interviews celebrities and acts very, very awkward. He interviews everyone from Bradley Cooper to Michael Cera, Jimmy Kimmel, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Ben Stiller and Sean Penn. My personal favorite episode is his interview with Bruce Willis.

Acting With James Franco

Want to learn to act? Well there’s no better teacher than James Franco. In ‘Acting With James Franco’, actor James Franco offers up some handy tips, with the help of his brother Dave, for wannabe actors. Learn how to work with a green screen, how to recreate a scene and even how to cry on camera.

Drunk History

What happens when people get drunk and discuss historical events? Well, Drunk History of course! Drunk History first hit Funny Or Die nearly three years ago but it’s still priceless if you ask me. Check out the first episode, when Mark Gagliardi gets drunk and talks about Alexander Hamilton, acted out by Michael Cera.

Literal Videos

Literal Videos is another one of my favorite collections of videos on Funny Or Die. The Literal Videos series takes popular music videos and changes the words to the songs to literally sing about exactly what’s happening in the video. Literal Video versions have been made for White Wedding, Under The Bridge, Loser, China Girl and my personal favorite Take On Me.
