You're watching your favorite beauty vlogger broadcast live as she drives her car around town. She looks away from the road to check her phone and read questions from fans. Suddenly, the picture goes haywire, and the vlogger screams amid sounds of shrieking metal and smashing glass. She's apparently been involved in a devastating crash. The scene fades to black. When this horrifying bit of video streamed live on Dec. 16, some 2,500 users were looking on in horror and dismay, shocked by what had evidently occurred.
Nobody wants to get into a car crash. But if you do, even a small difference in your speed can make a huge difference in the outcome. A new Australian PSA cleverly and poignantly uses a series of escalating freeze frames to illustrate the range of effects that varying speeds can have on the same collision. And it emphasizes the importance of what a driver, despite the intrinsic unpredictability of roads, actually can control—how fast he or she is going.

April was Distracted Driving Awareness month, and Sprint saved one of the most eye-catching PSA for last—unveiling the sculpture above in downtown Miami last Friday. Titled "The Last Emoji," it was made by ad agency Alma from a junkyard wreck and warns Miami drivers of the dangers of texting and driving. According to Alma, Florida is one of the only states that doesn't list texting while driving as a primary offense, so Magnacom Worldwide secured a prime location at 1200 Brickell Avenue in downtown Miami to reach commuters.
Distracted driving is a serious problem. But while the stats are staggering—3,100 dead and 424,000 injured in crashes involving distracted drivers in the U.S. in 2013—they remain just numbers, without much visceral pull. SR22Agency.com wanted to change that—to show distracted driving in real time. So, it set up cameras over I-95 in Florida, filmed for 20 minutes and examined the footage to see how many drivers weren't fully focused on the road.
