What’s the one thing you wish you could do on airplanes that you can’t already do? If you said “watch YouTube videos” then you’re in for a pleasant surprise because by mid-December a number of popular YouTube shows will be rolled out across Virgin America flights in the US and Mexico.
Kate Berland, YouTube Marketing Manager, writes on the YouTube blog, “We’re teaming up with Virgin America to bring you great shows from five YouTube partners right on your personal seatback screen. By mid-December, Warner Brothers’ H+ The Digital Series, WIGS’ Blue, Geek & Sundry’s Written By a Kid, Crash Course and Barely Political’s The Key of Awesome will be available for free on all Virgin America planes in the US and Mexico.”
If you’ve ever paid for wi-fi on a plane then you may have noticed that video streaming service in the air can be pretty sketchy, or non-existent. This partnership may not bring the entire world of online video to flying, but it does bring some pretty great YouTube content to the skies.
Berland writes, “Bringing YouTube aboard Virgin America is part of a larger effort to bring you more of the videos you love, at heights you’ve never seen them before.”
