For reviews of local businesses that just can’t wait until the writer gets home, Yelp has updated its mobile app to let users post reviews straight from their phones.
Instant mobile reviews are something that competing apps like Foursquare have had for a while now, but Yelp’s version is just rolling out today on iOS and will launch on the Android sometime in the near future.
The company said in a blog post that increasingly more people are using Yelp solely through their phones — no doubt while they’re standing on the sidewalk deciding where to go next.
With this latest update, reviewers will also be able to post full-length reviews or leave “quick tips” and star ratings the second they’ve left the restaurant, or even before then. For obvious reasons, we’re giving this update two thumbs up.
But users should be aware that if their full-length reviews are too short, they may be automatically cast into the “quick tips” section to stay helpful to the other readers, the company said.
