I’ve been a long time fan of Yammer. Months ago, I wrote up 6 things your company can’t do without Yammer, and I stand by that today. I feel that most workplaces operate in a conversational manner, and Yammer’s stream service addresses that reality in its corporate solution — it allows employees and managers to keep up to date in public, social news feeds similar to Twitter. In fact, the easiest way to describe Yammer is to say it’s like Twitter for your business. That’s why it’s no surprise that Yammer has tripled their year-over-year sales in 2011.
Yammer announced their latest numbers yesterday, on Thursday, and there were some surprising statistics. They’ve grown from around 100,000 to over 200,000 organizations using the service, with a 21 percent increase in average deal size. They had a record fourth quarter, with growth of 32 percent over Q4 2010.
This is good news for Yammer and the Social CRM field in general. The market for social services that allow companies to interact better with their employees and their customers is heating up, and we’re excited to see Yammer, one of the first leaders of social enterprise solutions, having a profitable year.
