Yahoo launched its Screen app in early September, introducing a free outlet for TV and video streaming on iOS devices. Now, the app has been updated with three major new features, including support for live video.

The live video update will see a red “Live” icon appear within the app if a particular video is currently broadcasting. One such event will take place on October 22, when Yahoo Music will be exclusively streaming the Katy Perry ‘iHeart Radio’ album release party.

Elsewhere, the app now offers push notifications, alerting users of breaking news or other events that the app finds especially important.

Finally, AirPlay implementation allows Screen’s users to push videos to their TVs, while also retaining the ability to browse for additional videos on the app.

“We want Yahoo Screen to be a place where you can customize your experience to your liking while continually discovering new things to watch and share,” Robby Stein, Director of Product Management, said about Yahoo Screen at launch. “We hope to make Yahoo Screen the destination for the world’s best video creators and their awesome content.”

The Yahoo Screen app is available to download for free on iPhone and iPad. You can track the app on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
