The White House has begun holding “Office Hours” with its senior staff on Twitter, answering the public’s questions daily in 140 characters or less.
Announced Tuesday on the White House blog, these Office Hours are meant to offer a platform for the public to engage senior staff on a number of issues important to them. This week, the Office Hours are centered around President Obama’s speech and the ongoing debate over the deficit.
Anyone interested in participating in these Office Hours can follow the hashtag #WHChat. Twitter users are encouraged to use this hashtag to ask their questions of the officials participating in the Office Hours.
The first Office Hour was held on Tuesday July 26 at 5pm ET, with Brian Deese, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. There are at least one or two chats scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with either Deese or Hason Furman, the Principal Deputy Director of the National Economic Council.
