Vimeo Releases Shortlists, Opens Voting For 2012 Vimeo Festival + Awards

By Megan O'Neill

Back in December, Vimeo opened submissions for the second Vimeo Festival + Awards.  Submissions have closed and have been narrowed down to the best of the best and this week Vimeo has released the shortlists and opened up voting to the Vimeo community.

Viewers are invited to head over to the Vimeo Festival + Awards voting page and cast their votes for videos in the categories of Motion Graphics, Captured, Documentary, Experimental, Music Video, Narrative, Fashion, Advertising, Series, Action Sports, Animation, Lyrical and Remix.  The Vimeo team explains, “You can vote once per day per category between now and April 30, so if there are videos you especially adore, give ‘em lots of votes!”

In addition to your votes, industry experts will also be judging the competition.  Judges include Casey Neistat, who recently got lots of press when he used Nike’s money to travel the world in 10 days, James Franco, and others.

The Festival will take place on June 7-9 in NYC and tickets are now on sale for anywhere between $20 and $60.  Will you be casting your vote?  Will you be attending?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
