Vanilla Ice To Perform Live At The Streamy Awards Next Month

By Megan O'Neill

The Streamy Awards, the award show honoring excellence in online video, is pulling out all the stops for their show this year, which will stream live from the Hollywood Palladium on February 17.  Earlier this month the show announced that Chris Hardwick will be hosting and the latest big announcement is that Rob Van Winkle, aka Vanilla Ice, will be performing…word to your mother!

Other musical guests to perform at this year’s Streamys include 23-year old Shontelle, who will be performing her hit single “Impossible,” as well as a variety of YouTube musical stars, including Chester See, DeStorm, Epic Rap Battles, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Sam Tsui and Savannah Outen.  According to a press release, these users are “scheduled to perform alongside Vanilla Ice.”

Vanilla Ice is sort of a strange choice to perform at an award show dedicated to online video—he’s not an online video star, after all.  But he does say “stop, collaborate and listen” and, as we all know, collaboration is one of the keys to YouTube success, so there ya go!

If you want to see Vanilla Ice, Shontelle, the YouTubers and the rest of the Streamys in person you can purchase tickets here.  And, because it’s been way too long, check out the video for Ice Ice Baby below!
