It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and people took to Twitter to share it. This past Friday was 11.11.11, November 11th, 2011. And on 11:11 (both AM and PM) Twitter users excitedly tweeted to each other about the fortuitous date/hour combination.
Twitter created a graphical visualization of the flow of tweets that mentioned “11:11″ throughout the day on 11.11.11 in a 24 second video clip that you can watch below.
For whatever reason, people seemed to revel in the fact that 11:11 on 11.11.11 was such a unique date. And if all your co-workers weren’t standing over the water cooler discussing it, at the very least it took the Twitter-sphere by storm on Friday.
You can watch the video below to see when people tweeted “11:11″ throughout the day on 11.11.11. Twitter has created a map visualization that represents each tweet as a “1”, color coded by country.
It’s quite neat to watch the tweets flow from right to left. The first batch is when people awoke in the morning, but the second, and largest, wave of tweets came when each timezone hit 11:11AM, with a few countries tweeting again later in the day at 11:11PM.
