Karen Wickre, the former blog strategist and global communications manager for Google, has taken a job at Twitter as its editorial director. Wickre will be charged with developing a consistent Twitter “voice” across its various public platforms.
Wickre left Google earlier this month, after 9 years on the job. There, as Search Engine Land reports, she was not only in charge of global communications, but was also credited as the mother of the Google Blog.
Now, Wickre has moved on to tweeter pastures, taking a leading position at Twitter.
As editorial director, Wickre explains that she will focus on:
“a fair amount of wordsmithing as well as nurturing a consistent Twitter voice across our public messages and information pages.”
She’ll be in charge of the public face of Twitter, making sure that the company is presenting itself in a clear, consistent way to the public.
And, in appropriate new-to-the-flock style, Wickre announced her new position via Twitter, tweeting:
“Yes, I’ve joined the Flock. Excited to be at Twitter HQ.Posting more soon!”
She also included a rather appropriate Instagram pic along with her tweet to commemorate her new job.
