HOWTO: Send A Tweet On The iPhone 4S Using Siri

So, you’ve been fortunate enough to be one of the very first to get your hands on the new iPhone 4S (ahem), and like everybody else you’ve been putting the highly-touted personal assistant Siri through his or her paces (Siri is male or female depending on your country settings). Siri takes a while to learn your voice, but after that it can be pretty amazing. All sorts of fun and frolics are there to be had. But what about more practical applications, like social networking - can you use Siri for Twitter, and send tweets using only your voice? Well, yes, you can. Kind of. This is a bit of a cheat, as you’re not using Siri directly. Instead, Siri’s voice recognition functionality is built into all iPhone 4S apps that use a keyboard, and this includes Twitter clients. Here’s how you do it. 1. Load up Twitter for iPhone, and click on the new tweet icon (top right). 2. Click on the microphone icon in the bottom left-hand corner. 3. The Siri technology will kick in, waiting for you to speak. 4. Speak your tweet. (Tip: say ‘full stop’ to insert one.) 5. Click on ‘Done’, and click ‘Send’ to publish. You can read this tweet here. As I said, it’s a bit of a workaround, and you're not using voice control for everything. But this can be useful on the move, and might stop you crashing the car or walking into the road and being hit by a bus.
