TomTom To Launch App For Android Phones

TomTom, the popular GPS navigational system, is launching a new app for Android phones in October. The app lets users turn their phones into a GPS device with mapping tools, and  turn-by-turn navigation. The Android app could also potentially include add on features such as real-time traffic information and warnings about speed trap cameras.

TomTom has offered iOS apps since 2009, but this is the first push to offer apps outside of Apple devices. The iPhone/iPad apps are designed per geographic region and range in price from $49.99-$119.99.
