On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens will meet in New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII — a topic already hugely popular on Facebook. The 49ers, led by quarterback Colin Kaepernick, are the most-talked-about team on the social network by far. However, the two fan bases have a few things in common on Facebook.

Let’s take a look at the two teams through Facebook’s lens.

Insights

According to CBS Sports, the 49ers are dominating the conversation all over the country on Facebook:

San Francisco’s team also owns every age and gender demographic on Facebook, except for 13- to 17-year-old boys, who are more passionate about Baltimore.

However, although more people all over the country are posting on Facebook about the 49ers, it’s two Ravens players that make up most of the social network chatter. Baltimore Linebacker Ray Lewis is the most-talked-about Super Bowl athlete on Facebook right now, with teammate Terrell Suggs in second place. The third-most-talked-about player on Facebook is Kaepernick. Four San Francisco players made the top 10 list in Facebook mentions: Kaepernick, Tight End Vernon Davis, Linebacker Patrick Willis, and Running Back Frank Gore.

Kaepernick is most popular in New Mexico, California (where the 49ers play), and Nevada, where he went to college.
