Rebecca Black Releases New Single, Parodies Already Popping Up

Ever since Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ hit YouTube back in March, fans and foes of the YouTube sensation have been waiting to see what she would be doing next.  Well folks, the moment is finally here!  Yesterday Rebecca Black’s second single, ‘My Moment’, hit the web and is currently taking YouTube by storm.  The video is currently climbing the YouTube charts and, as with ‘Friday’, the not-so-nice comments and parodies are already pouring in.  But does ‘My Moment’ have what it takes to be the next ‘Friday’?  You be the judge.

It doesn’t look like people like ‘My Moment’ any more than they liked ‘Friday’ if the 3,028 likes to 11,032 dislikes that the video has accrued so far have anything to say about it.  The video has also received a whole slew of video responses from viewers (all guys, by the way) talking about how bad the video is, and even a response from a kitten reacting to the video (click at your own risk, it’s pretty gross).  The comments on the video also leave something to be desired, though they aren’t all negative.

Check out the video below and decide for yourself how you think the new song compares to ‘Friday’.

‘My Moment’ hasn’t even been online for twenty-four hours and the parodies are already coming in.  BuzzFeed got the ball rolling with their own slowed-down version of the song, ‘This Is My Moooooooommmmmmeeeennnnnt’ (below).  We’ve already seen a lyrical breakdown of the video, a video that mashes up the new song with Coldplay’s ‘Clocks’, and more.

How will ‘My Moment’ be received and will it be as successful as ‘Friday’ was?  We aren’t sure, but we, we, we so excited to find out!  The song definitely isn’t catchy in that annoying gets-stuck-in-your-head way that ‘Friday’ was, but I do think that a lot of people will feel like they “owe it to the Internet” to parody and bash the song, just because of who Rebecca Black is and how she got her start.  What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below.
