Sudanese-Australian rap artist Bangs has shocked fans far and wide with the announcement that he has scored a record deal. Bangs just signed a deal for his YouTube hit single “Take You To The Movies” with HSM Distribution, proving once again that YouTube can make anything possible!
“Take You To The Movies” has had over 2.3 million views since it was posted to YouTube last June. Many viewers dubbed it as one of the worst rap videos of all time, and people have stared in awe as Bangs dedicates his song “to all the ladies out there who like to go to the movies” and raps in front of cityscapes, slick sports cars and…a map of Sudan?
Despite the fact that most people find this video to be nothing more than a joke, Bangs’ record deal is for real. According to an official press release on Bossip, “Bangs becomes the flagship artist for this emerging distribution and entertainment label [HSM Distribution], which touts itself as the Distribution (R)evolution.”
Whether or not you enjoy Bangs’ music you have to admit that it really is amazing what putting a single video up on YouTube can accomplish. Bangs, who was born in Sudan, has been through a lot in his life. His family left Sudan for Egypt, where they spent two years before moving to Australia. Bangs recorded his track only five years after learning English, posted the video to YouTube and, within a matter of months, scored fame and a record contract!
