‘Piranha 3DD’ Set To Take Bite Out Of Facebook

By David Cohen

If 3-D flesh-eating fish were the one thing missing from your Facebook experience, Milyoni has got you covered, as the social entertainment provider teamed up with Starz Digital Media to present Piranha 3DD, the first-ever 3-D film on the social network.

Piranha 3DD is available for streaming via Facebook starting today, at $6.99 for HD or $7.99 for 3-D, payable via PayPal, Facebook Credits, or credit card.

The film was also released in theaters and via video-on-demand today, but viewers who tap Facebook as their medium of choice will be able to chat with friends during the movie, comment, and share and tag their favorite clips.

Viewers can use their own 3-D glasses, or Milyoni will provide a link with each purchase instructing them on how to make their own.

Piranha 3DD is the sequel to 2010 film Piranha 3D, and it stars Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Paul Scheer (The League), David Hasselhoff (Baywatch), Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon), Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), Danielle Panabaker (The Crazies), Matt Bush (Adventureland), Chris Zylka (The Amazing Spider-Man), and David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy).

Milyoni Chief Executive Officer John Corpus said:

This project with Starz Digital Media marks yet another first for us and social entertainment on Facebook. The chance to bring the first 3-D movie to the social network is another step toward the future of Facebook as a true entertainment consumption and distribution platform.
