Organize and scan documents on the go with Doo on iOS
Mobile productivity app Doo joins a growing field of document managers on iOS, giving users the chance to access their cloud-saved documents across Dropbox and other services, as well as snap photos of documents using their device’s camera.
Doo looks to serve as a “one-stop-shop” for document management on iPhone. Users create an account, and can connect as few or as many services to that account as they’d like. Once all of a user’s files are synced, they can search for files across all locations simultaneously, from Dropbox or Google Drive storage to their email and beyond.
The document scanner creates PDFs of items like receipts or tickets, and saves those images to users’ preferred locations. The default option is Doo’s cloud library, which sees the app also auto-tagging any relevant tags and location data to that document.
“The cloud is still fragmented and difficult to navigate. It’s a collection of digital data silos with loads of unorganized content of any kind,” said co-founder and CEO Frank Thelen, via a company release. “doo is about enhancing the users’ experience with the cloud services they already use. It’s the one app that gives users access to all their documents in all storage locations and combines it with the next generation search. Now you can finally find your stuff anywhere – with any device. That’s key for making the cloud work.”
Document scanning has been seen in other iOS apps, including ABBYY’s FineScanner for instance, which also allows scanned documents to be shared to cloud storage options as well as Facebook. However, where FineScanner costs $1.99 to purchase on iOS, Doo is a free app across both iPhone and iPad. The company plans to roll out additional premium features in the near future.
