NewsBasis announced the launch of its Content Development Exchange, which allows publishers, editors, and writers to connect with vetted organizations, academic institutions, and subject-matter experts in order to identify, develop, and source stories for publication.
Members — which currently include The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, CNN, Aol, The Huffington Post, Mashable, businesses, nonprofits, academic institutions, and public-relations professionals — can access story ideas and follow-up information free-of-charge, as well as posting requests for content, sources, and experts that are automatically routed.
NewsBasis launched Aug. 2 and currently totals more than 5,000 members. Founder and CEO Darryl Siry said:
For the first time, NewsBasis offers an alternative to press releases, email pitches, and cold calls. While these “push” approaches still have their place, they have become increasingly ineffective as the media landscape has evolved.
