Facebook has made an internal hire to fill the chief technical officer position vacant since Bret Taylor's departure last summer — Mike Schroepfer, formerly the company's vice president of engineering.

Facebook has made an internal hire to fill the chief technical officer position vacant since Bret Taylor’s departure last summer — Mike Schroepfer, formerly the company’s vice president of engineering.

Schroepfer has been with Facebook for nearly five years and has been at the forefront of the company’s mobile focus. He joined Facebook after working for Mozilla for three years, and he also sits on the board of directors for Ancestry.com.

Facebook confirmed Schroepfer’s new position in a statement to the media:
