LinkedIn Profiles To Get a Makeover

Your LinkedIn profile will be getting a makeover soon. The professional networking company has confirmed the launch of a redesign that will push the “summary” portion of your profile to the top of the page.

Social media advisor Donna Serdula firstĀ contacted the Los Angeles Times with a preview of the redesigned interface on

A LinkedIn spokesperson later confirmed the news. “We are focused on making it easier for LinkedIn members to get more value out of the services we offer by creating simpler, more relevant, more social experiences,” the spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times in an email. “This new look and feel to the profile is the first step of many more exciting changes to come to the LinkedIn profile later this year.”

In this video, Serdula offers a tour of the new layout. At the top of the page is a larger profile picture, a quick summary, and bullet points that highlight the user’s current job, previous employer, and educational background. All other details, such as contact information, have been moved farther down on the page.

In July 2012, LinkedIn made other changes to its site, including a cleaner interface, more relevant updates, and larger images in the news stream.
