Website creation platform Jimdo has announced the launch of its native iOS app, bringing the company’s free website creation program to mobile users. Jimdo allows users to create their own websites, complete with unique URLs, and then customize those sites with as many pages and as much content as they’d like.

The Jimdo iOS app contains many of the most useful features found in the traditional PC Jimdo experience. Users can add text, images, galleries (complete with captions), links, headlines and more to each page, and can rename, hide or delete items as they see fit. The company’s existing 8 million websites can also be accessed and updated via this new mobile experience.

Since these webpages are available for creation and updating on the iOS app, they are also ready for viewing on mobile devices. Jimdo encourages users to create new websites for recipe sharing, sharing photos from events, or even documenting each stop on a vacation for friends and family to view while you’re still away, as examples.

“The desktop version of Jimdo is already powerful,” said Christian Springub, Jimdo’s co-founder, in a company statement. “By integrating the new app with our existing platform, users now have the freedom to decide when, where, and with which device they edit their sites. Users can even start on one device and finish on another.”

Users looking for additional options and functionality can subscribe to one of two premium Jimdo accounts. Professionals and small businesses, for instance, can purchase Jimdo Pro or Jimdo Business for $90 or $240 a year, respectively.

The base version of Jimdo is now available to download for free on iPhone and iPad. You can follow the app’s progress on AppData, our tracking tool for social and mobile apps and developers.
