Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor surged to the top of the Hitwise rankings of Web sites for cable news shows for the week ending Oct. 9, with MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann claiming second place and the No. 3 spot going to fellow MSNBC offering The Rachel Maddow Show.
The top three late-night talk-show sites were unchanged from the previous week: Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, and NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
The top three broadcast-show Web sites were unchanged for the third consecutive week: ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Fox’s Glee, and CBS’ NCIS. CBS and ABC were once again the top two broadcast-network sites, with The CW placing third. The only fast riser in the broadcast category was CBS’ CSI: Miami (to No. 6 from No. 17).
The top three cable-show sites were also unchanged from last week: Comedy Central’s South Park, and MTV’s Jersey Shore and Teen Mom. Fast risers were Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta (4 from 30), sister show The Real Housewives of DC (14 from 25), History’s Ice Road Truckers (21 from 34), and VH1’s Top 20 Countdown (24 from 48).
When combining broadcast and cable networks, Dancing with the Stars reclaimed the top spot from No. 2 Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, with South Park placing third. Fast risers were Nickelodeon’s iCarly (7 from 18), sister show Big Time Rush (7 from 17), The Real Housewives of Atlanta (11 from 83), Nick’s Victorious (14 from 39), fellow Nick series The Penguins of Madagascar (20 from 41), CSI: Miami (22 from 37), Nick’s Dora the Explorer (23 from 55), and Cartoon Network’s Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (24 from 34).
