Fotolia Instant allows mobile photographers to sell their images

Stock photo marketplace Fotolia has expanded its services with the release of Fotolia Instant, offering mobile photographers an outlet for submitting their images to the online marketplace for potential sale. The Fotolia Instant app follows the same quality standards as the Fotolia website, and allows users to earn the system’s “Credits” currency for each photo sold.

The Fotolia Instant app supports in-app photography, as well as importing images from a device’s camera roll. Users can manually and separately control exposure and aperture settings, and the screen remains relatively uncluttered in the hopes of providing the best picture-taking experience possible.

Once a photo is taken, users can tag it with appropriate keywords, and can even access the appropriate release forms for photos that contain living models. Once pictures are formatted with tags and titles, they’re sent in for review to ensure that they match the site’s overall quality requirements. Pictures are sold for 3 Credits each, or around $3.

According to Tech Crunch, Fotolia hopes this mobile application will help flesh out the platform’s stock image library with more modern photos, as well as simply providing an outlet for an increasingly mobile community.

“The application is our way of supporting the ‘phonography’ community and the changing needs of consumers,” said Fotolia’s Director of Marketing in North America Leo Tran, as reported by Tech Crunch. “We think this release will be an important one for photography as we will be the first major worldwide microstock agency to fully throw our support towards ‘phonography’ and be able to deliver a curated collection on a greater scale because of our worldwide presence.”

Fotolia Instant is now available to download for free on iOS. Check back soon to follow the app on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
