Boulder, Colorado-based Eventblimp aims to show mobile users every interesting event happening around them by combining features from multiple platforms, including Facebook, Meetup, Eventbrite, Bandsintown, SeatGeek and Eventful. To do so, the company has secured angel funding from private equity firm Grey Mountain Partners.
In Eventblimp, users connect to Facebook to see which events their friends are attending, or events near them, which include everything from a professional event at a convention center to a concert at a bar. During beta testing, the app aggregated event data for over 20 million events.
When searching for something to do, users can search for events by location, category, date or time of day, cost of admission and more. Events can be shared back out of the system to social networks like Facebook and Twitter, in cases when users want to invite others to join them.
While the Eventblimp platform focuses on location awareness for consumers, event planners and marketers are also encouraged to use the app to conduct market research, as marketers can analyze other (perhaps similar) events near their own.
“The event market is extremely large, and the event sites providing information are siloed causing event goers to parse multiple sites. We want Eventblimp to be the one and only source people need to find everything going on around them with ease,” said Chris Good, CEO and Founder of Eventblimp. “We have more events than any other source, and we aggregate them into a beautiful map for the best user experience possible.”
