The featured acts at the sixth annual Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City included Facebook and Instagram.

The event included performances by The Pixies, The Libertines, Ratatat, Muse, The Drums, Beirut and Ryan Adams.

Jimena Gadea, who works on strategic partnerships in Mexico for the social network, described initiatives by Facebook and Instagram at the festival in a Facebook Media blog post:

The Live for Facebook Mentions live-streaming feature was used to allow users of the social network to view selected sets from Corona Capital live.

A Facebook Room was established at the Condesa Hotel, where media outlets were able to create video content, such as Q&As and contests, as well as broadcast interviews with musical artists and other influencers.

The Condesa Hotel also housed the Infinity Room, where bands and celebrities including Fatboy Slim, Kiesza and The New Regime posted photos directly to Facebook and Instagram.

The best questions submitted for Facebook Q&As from fans, using the #UNOXUNOCAPITAL hashtag, were selected and incorporated.

And Live for Facebook Mentions was also incorporated into Colectivo Tour, a showcase of emerging local bands that preceded Corona Capital and was presented by “global influencers” including Will.I.Am, Mark Ronson, Residente and Steve Aoki, using the hashtag #descubretumusica.
