CNN iReport, CNN’s global participatory news community, announced earlier this week that they have surpassed one million registered contributors.  Over 1 million people iReporters from all over the world have submitted stories on topics from politics to entertainment, tech, health, living travel and more and the community is continuing to grow.

The network reports that, “iReport continues to set the standard in citizen journalism and has further plans to grow the platform in 2012.  Included in those plans will be new tools and features designed to carry iReport into all the places where people are telling stories, and then connect them back to CNN and the wider web.”

To celebrate the one million iReporter milestone, CNN put together the following video featuring some of their one million iReporters, from all over the world.

For those of you that haven’t heard about iReport, the network describes it as follows:  “iReport is an invitation for you to be a part of CNN’s coverage of the stories you care about and an opportunity to be a part of a global community of men and women who are as passionate about the news as you are.”

iReport provides their citizen reporters with all sorts of tools to help them create their stories and iReporters are regularly featured on CNN, after their stories are screened and fact-checked.  Find out more at
