Check In to Your Favorite Show or Movie with IMDB Update

By Neil Vidyarthi

I use IMDB to keep track of my favorite TV shows and movies as well as my ‘watchlist’ of things I still want to see. IMDB is available on every platform, and I use it on my iPad as an app and occasionally on the mobile-enabled web site, as well as on my Android. And I’m not the only one: to celebrate some major traffic milestones, IMDB is releasing a mobile update that enhances the social-mobile IMDB experience. I look at the update below.

Between iOS and Android, IMDB apps have been downloaded over 40m time (about half from each OS) and they receive 45mm visitors a month. These are the milestones that IMDB are celebrating in order to release their social features.

One of the new features is the check-in, which allows you to check in to a movie as you’re watching it and quickly post it to Facebook and your IMDB profile. You’re able to leave a short note about the movie. The features isn’t too elaborate yet, and it’s kind of hard to find out where the check-in shows up on your IMDB profile, but this is the first step and I imagine we’ll see the feature evolve in future updates.

The improved message board is definitely my personal favorite in this update. For any given movie it’s just a few clicks to see what the other IMDB users are saying about a movie and participate yourself from your mobile device. The IMDB forums are a great place to meet some pretty serious cinephiles, and I don’t think a whole lot of people know about the forums. They will now, though.
